Planted in 1977, the Ehrenfelser at Mannhardt Vineyards grows on some of the Okanagan's oldest vines. In 2002, an educated guess led us to meticulously remove leaves to open up the canopy and let the intense Okanagan sunlight reach the 25-year-old vines. A good wine became great and what we call "fruit salad in a glass" was born. All our winemaking decisions get the same attention to detail as the Ehrenfelser does. And the results show in every bottle. On that, you have our word.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
Well suited to the cool-climate of the Okanagan Valley, our Ehrenfelser (a cross between Riesling and the earlier ripening Sylvaner) was harvested October 4 - 15, 2009 and fermented in 100% stainless steel to preserve its fresh fruit intensity.
TASTING NOTES
Aromas of peach, apricot and nectarine with a hint of honey following with flavours of lime, peach and spice on the palate. The finish is off dry with lingering fruit flavours and refreshing acidity.
CULINARY NOTES
Recommended with Asian and Indian foods, roasted chicken, turkey with stuffing. Pairs well with desserts such as cheesecakes, fresh strawberries with whipping cream and medium cheeses.
